My Philosophy and Pledge:
Mental dis-ease - in all its variety - is real.
Mental wellbeing is the ability to experience and move through all normal human emotions - happiness, anger, sadness, anxiety - with the energy and motivation to do the things we need and want to do. This should be a human right.
It is difficult - to say the least - to reach or maintain mental wellbeing when you:
pay attention to what is happening in the world; are discriminated against; are over-worked, over-scheduled, unemployed, can’t make a living wage, are living paycheck to paycheck; feel like you’re going-it alone; are not in-community with like-minded others.
Systems in this country work hard to medicalize our states of mind, placing the burden of mental wellbeing on the “patient,” instead of on the system that “patient” lives within.
Mental wellbeing is my goal for you, for myself, and for all beings.
Given the systems we live in, part of mental wellbeing must be pursuing systemic change in ways big and small. I ask you to join me in this effort, in whatever way(s) you can.
At Mental Wellbeing NP, I am on this path - this human path - with you.
